Growing up, I’ve always been into games, and I’ve got to say that the titles I grew up with look and play nothing like the ones offered in VAR LIVE. So as you may have guessed, I’ve been to this VR theme park countless times.

Where is VAR LIVE?
VAR LIVE is located inside MyTOWN Shopping Centre in Kuala Lumpur. The mall itself can be found by the Jalan Cochrane main road, with its right side located along Lorong Panglima and its rear facing Jalan Nakhoda Yusof.

How to Get to VAR LIVE
Closest train stop: The closest train station is the Cochrane subway station, which is located right across MyTOWN Shopping Centre. It’s an underground MRT station and you can get there by riding the MRT Kajang Line.
Closest bus stop: The closest bus stop is MRT Cochrane, which is also located right across the street from MyTOWN Shopping Centre.
Taxi/Grab: You can also ride a taxi if you prefer a more convenient way of getting to VAR LIVE Malaysia. If you want to avoid being scammed by drivers, however, we recommend booking a right through the Grab app.
Rental car: For the utmost comfort and privacy, you can drive a rental from Kuala Lumpur’s best rental car companies. The only downside here is the traffic, but parking is quite easy since MyTOWN Shopping Centre has more than ample spaces.

As a gamer, one of the things I love about VAR LIVE is that it makes playing video games socially fun! Instead of sitting on a couch and playing alone, this park allows people to play fast-paced immersive games with their friends and family in a fun environment.
You can even hone your teamwork skills because the majority of the titles offered here require you to work together to either survive or win. This is also the reason why some companies choose to arrange their team-building programs here!
Wide Variety of Games
Of course, VAR LIVE wouldn’t gain its theme park title without providing some variety! Thankfully, it doesn’t disappoint, as it offers over 10 different games that cater to different kinds of gamers and age groups.
For instance, those who want a more horror-centric game can enjoy titles like Horror Hospital and Zombie Jail, while kids can have a blast in Baby Shark and City Hero. The theme park doesn’t strictly offer shooters as well, as they boast a fun racing game called Crazy Rush!
State-of-the-Art Technology
The main highlight of this theme park is the cutting-edge VR technology that each attraction features. Although we can’t get into the technical side of things, we can say for sure that they’re able to provide an immersive gaming experience like no other.
From the VR goggles to the light guns and more, this park features every peripheral that can make you feel like you’re in the game itself. Furthermore, the theme park promotes multi-sensory experiences by featuring wind and sound effects—pretty cool, right?
Meanwhile, there are also those traditional rides like the Crazy Rush Racing game, where you’ll be sitting in a high-tech car simulation machine that feels like an actual car!
Themed Environments
The theme park’s efforts don’t only end in providing cutting-edge VR equipment too, as it also does a great job of creating themed environments. A perfect example is their Zombie Jail title, which features a set that looks exactly like an eerie abandoned prison.

Zombie Way
Trapped in a zombie-infested subway, Zombie Way will have you and your friends working together to escape the apocalypse! Luckily, you’ll have high-power rifles as your weapons to blast your way through hordes of zombies, which is equal parts terrifying and fun.
What makes it more fun is that every gory detail, from the headshots you make to the appearance of the undead themselves, is displayed in full visceral glory. With that being said, be sure to keep the kids away from this ride, as they may be too young for all the blood and guts.
All in all, it’s a solid game to play with your friends, especially if you’ve always wondered how you would handle the zombie apocalypse. Plus, it also helps that the light gun provided to the players is super satisfying to use.
Crazy Rush
Always wondered how Super Mario Kart would play out as a virtual reality game? Well, Crazy Rush will give you that exact experience, albeit with a few changes in terms of character, gameplay and overall design.
Still, the core experience is the same fun arcade racing you’ve come to love from playing those titles with your friends back in the day. From turning sharp corners to acquiring power ups to give you an edge over your competitors, this game is a spiritual successor through and through.
From a gameplay perspective, the difference is night and day. Instead of using a controller, players will be strapped onto a racing simulator-type machine, complete with VR goggles to immerse racers into the virtual world.
City Hero
If you have kids or you aren’t particularly a fan of scary games, then City Hero should be right up your alley! This game turns the usual zombie apocalypse into something more kid-friendly by giving it pixelated graphics akin to games like Minecraft and Roblox.
Don’t be fooled by its fun and quirky graphics though, as the challenge is still real as it gets since you and your friends have to fight off hordes of the undead! Plus, what makes it even harder is that there are special gigantic zombies.
The gunplay is quite spectacular as well, which comes in courtesy of the high-tech light gun that’s paired with the state-of-the-art virtual goggles. Each trigger you pull in this game feels super satisfying, especially when you hit the enemies, so don’t be afraid to go crazy!
Zombie Jail 1, 2 and No Mercy
Zombie Jail is the most famous attraction in VAR LIVE, which is why it doesn’t come as a surprise that it spawned two sequels. It’s a classic zombie shooter featuring satisfying gunplay, amazing graphics and a fairly challenging difficulty—everything you’d want from a game like this.
What we love the most about these games is that they give you the option to choose which gun to use. For instance, if you want something that packs a punch, you can use a shotgun but if you’re looking for speed, then an SMG might suit you better.
The graphics are worth highlighting as well, as they’re quite realistic, or at least as realistic as a fictional zombie apocalypse would look like. These aren’t only evident in the environment but in the zombies as well, as they’re displayed in all their ghoul-y glory.
Over Kill
Of course, the experience wouldn’t be complete without a competitive shooter in the mix, which is where Over Kill comes in. This title plays like online multiplayer first-person shooters like Call of Duty and Battlefield, but this time in a virtual reality setting.
It’s just as fast-paced and action-packed too, as you’ll be playing in teams to get as many kills as you can. Of course, you can’t just go guns blazing, so you have to work on your teamwork to conquer the enemy efficiently!
The map of the game itself is great too, as it forces players to engage with each other through various hotspots. You can even find corners to stay in and snipe your enemies from afar, just be sure to move from time to time so that you don’t give up your location!
Super Ninja
If you want to take a break from the craziness of all the guns and glory, then Super Ninja should be on your radar. This attraction trades in the usual guns for something more traditional like samurai swords and crossbows, creating a unique arcade shooter experience like no other!
This ride will let you live out your wildest fantasies of becoming a super stealthy ninja, as you make your way through waves of different kinds of enemies. It poses a fun yet challenging experience that people of all ages will surely enjoy!
It’s also worth noting that the visuals are quite stunning! The setting plays a major setting too as the players will be taken to a beautiful ninja dojo as opposed to the usual modern buildings and cities that you’re accustomed to in these types of games.

Sometimes a good old-fashioned burger is more than enough to satisfy both your tastebuds and hunger. For this need, we recommend checking out my Burger Lab because of their meaty premium-quality burgers that will put fast food burgers to shame.
You can’t go wrong with anything from their menu but you’ve got to try their best seller, the truffle cheeseburger! It turns a classic cheeseburger into something luxurious consisting of truffle paste, Kulim oil, sauteed mushrooms and of course, their beloved Angus patty.
If you’re someone who loves to try something new, you have to try their “Jammin’ w/ Elvis” burger. This burger is the perfect blend of sweet and savoury, featuring a slather of peanut butter and blueberry jam in addition to the usual cheeseburger components.

If you know someone who has a sweet tooth or you love desserts yourself, Molten Chocolate Cafe should be a must-try while you’re in MyTown. It’s here where you’ll find a plethora of chocolatey dishes, whether they be crepes, waffles, churros and more.
However, you can’t leave without trying their famously known sizzling brownies, which is exactly what it sounds like. It’s a huge chunk of brownie drenched in thick chocolate sauce with some marshmallows and strawberries—it’s even served in a cast iron skillet!
They also served some chocolatey beverages like our favourite iced Belgium chocolate milk, which is super thick—just the way we like it! Don’t worry though, they also offer non-chocolate drinks like coffee and strawberry smoothies if you want to go easy on the sweetness.

Gokan Maru is one of the best authentic Japanese restaurants in MyTOWN, and we’re not the only ones who stand behind this claim. We say this because one, they offer an impressively varied menu consisting of Japanese favourites like edamame, tempura, teppanyaki and more.
It’s not just about the quantity of choices too, as each dish is of premium quality, from the ingredients used to how they’re prepared. Plus, it also helps that the cosy and inviting ambience here is world-class—truly a one-of-a-kind dining experience!
