Fortuna Palace Seafood Restaurant is a go-to spot for seafood cravings in Kajang and we can understand why. First of all, we immediately felt the sophisticated ambience thanks to the fancy interior of the establishment.
It offers a fine-dining experience that we had the pleasure of enjoying during our time here. This kind of fanciness, however, does come at a price which is something that may turn off some people from dining here.
On a positive note, we felt that it was money well-spent if you’re looking to indulge in delicious seafood-based dishes while dining like royalty.
They had a wide variety of specialties, and one dish we ended up getting was the fried lobster with curry powder. This dish was bursting with flavours, especially the tender lobster meat which did a great job of absorbing the different spices of the curry.
Aside from that, we also got the wrapped prawns which tasted good as well. However, it was nowhere near the calibre of the fried lobster.
Overall, we liked our experience with Fortune Palace Seafood Restaurant, especially with its world-class customer service.
Pros
- Wide variety of dishes
- Fancy ambience
- Great customer service
Cons
- Expensive menu

Tasty and worth the price
“Delicious quality food though the price is slightly high. Tasty, good recommendations, good service, nice and comfortable ambience. Available parking. Worth the price. Not so crowded on weekdays. Steam chicken and signature fried rice 5*.
Also a popular place for wedding banquets. Call for booking” —Low Lee Ling, Google Reviews
Caring and friendly staff
“What a delight to dine at the Fortuna Palace Seafood Restaurant in Kajang at this time of the year. The first activity at our table of 7 (and acted out with much fanfare at the tables around us) was the preparation of the Yee Sang platter, a traditional Chinese New Year dish. It was my first experience and I enjoyed joining in simultaneously mixing/tossing the fresh fish and other ingredients while loudly invoking divine blessings. The resulting dish was really delicious, as were the other dishes we ordered, especially the shrimp and the large fresh steamed fish. Also, the decor of the dining room and the alert and friendly staff made dining at this premier restaurant a 5-star experience. No doubt we will return to Fortuna the next time we are in this area.” —Marc F, Tripadvisor

Shell-a-lot is one of those restaurants where they dump a platter of different kinds of seafood on your table. That’s why we figured it was a no-brainer to visit this place for our hunt for the best places to satisfy your seafood cravings in Kajang.
They had various kinds of platters that offer specific kinds of seafood and cater to a specific number of people. For instance, the one we got was Shellalot Family Crawfish which was good for 6 people and consisted of scallops, crawfish, scallops, mussels and more.
With plastic gloves on our hands, we devoured this platter along with our warm white rice in what felt like a couple of minutes. Right off the bat, we loved the variety of seafood we got and the sauce that they’ve been marinating in.
It wasn’t a home run, however, as there were some noteworthy things we didn’t like about our platter.
For example, the prawns that they were claiming were more like shrimp as they were smaller than we expected. Furthermore, they didn’t taste that fresh which was slightly disappointing.
As for their service, it is commendable as we didn’t encounter any problems during our time here and all our needs were met quickly.
Ambience-wise, we appreciate its cleanliness even though the platters are relatively messy to eat. The restaurant also had a theme that made it feel like we were dining on a pier thanks to its interior decor.
Pros
- Variety of seafood
- Reasonable prices
- Creative interior decor
- Clean premises
Cons
- Small prawns
- Inconsistent freshness of some seafood
Customer Reviews
Excellent & affordable seafood on the table!
“The place is probably rather new, but l went there as soon as l found out about it. The menu was interesting at a really affordable price, 3 of us paid 20 each and left with a full stomach. The drink was slightly sweet to my liking but they provide drinking water as well so you are free to dilute it. The chilli sauce provided was really delicious but mind you, it was hot!
It’s a unique experience to eat with your hands, but for those who prefer otherwise, spoons and forks are provided. The place was clean, l felt relaxed with my company, the staff was friendly, and I’ll definitely go back to challenge the higher spice level!” —j0j0s77, Tripadvisor
The sauce is pretty damn delicious
“Everything was great to me but only two things make me feel just a little bit disappointed. The cockle is smelly and the shrimp is not too fresh. The rest are all fine. In terms of services everything was good” —Izulanuar, Tripadvisor

Four Seasons Seafood Restaurant is a great place to dine at, in general. Aside from offering numerous seafood-based dishes, it’s a well-known restaurant to get authentic Chinese food as well.
We heard good things about their prawns here so we decided to order their steamed prawn with lime sauce to start.
Overall, we enjoyed this dish as the prawns were proportionate to the price that it charges, and the taste didn’t disappoint as well. The perfectly steamed meat of the prawn went perfectly well with the citrusy and acidic flavour of the lime sauce.
Of course, we also had to try their lobster which tasted amazing. The flaky white meat of the lobster tail was scrumptious and it served as a great vessel for the sauce of the dish making it extra flavourful.
If you are going to dine here, however, we recommend sticking with their seafood offerings as we found their other dishes subpar.
Furthermore, you should expect to spend a bit more when dining here as their menu tends to lean toward the pricier side but not too expensive. Although it makes up for it in terms of its dishes and overall dining experience, some foodies might find it a little too expensive.
Pros
- Great ambience
- Delicious seafood dishes
- Big servings
Cons
- Dishes aside from seafood are not that good
- Slightly pricey menu

Good Food and reasonable price
“We had dinner twice in this restaurant and we were happy with the food quality. If you want to hold a private function in a private room do book in advance, the karaoke system is good.”—angie1ktn, Tripadvisor
Average taste, middle range price
“We came here during MCO time (day 7th of CNY). Not many people dine in, but we noticed many people ordered and take away their lou sang (perhaps due to today is 人日). We ordered a small portion, the portion is just nice for 2 pax. In terms of taste, it is average. Price considered middle range, not too cheap nor too expensive. Nice ambient for family gathering.”—A M, Google Reviews

One of the most famous seafood outlets in Malaysia is The Manhattan Fish Market. This restaurant has several branches across the country but the one we dined in for this review was at the City Mall IOI.
As soon as we entered their restaurant, we were impressed by its cleanliness which was a good first impression. Fortunately, this impression did last as our experience was pleasant all throughout our time here.
For starters, their dishes had generous servings making the price even more reasonable. One of the dishes we ordered was the baked sambal belado cherry snapper which had a perfect texture and flavourful meat.
It was also served alongside fried rice which was a perfect pair, especially with the ultra-umami sambal scattered across the fish.
Another dish that piqued our attention was their Mozza Cheezy Fish ’N Chips. We weren’t quite sure what kind of dish was used to make this dish but we don’t think it matters as it’s covered in a beautiful golden brown batter.
This mystery fish along with some perfectly crisp potato chips were slathered with a delicious cheese sauce. It was delicious and we wished that we ordered more.
If there is something that the branch we ate at could improve was their customer service. We noticed it took a little bit more time for our dishes to reach our table.
Pros
- Wide variety of seafood options
- Generous servings
- Reasonable prices
- Clean premises
Cons
- Slow service

Delicious and scrumptious meals!
“Although the Manhattan Fish market has many outlets in Malaysia, and they serve the same meals on the menu, the one in IOI City Mall is amongst the best.
This is because the dining area is quite spacious with a lot of attentive waiters and waitresses. And of course, the food is always good, especially the lobster!” —atiejay j, Tripadvisor
Caring and friendly staff
“We found this restaurant and were in the mood for fish so we gave it a shot. The Cherry Snapper with pepper sauce was delicious.
The garlic mussels as an appetizer were excellent. My daughter ordered pasta with scallops. Despite the scallops being way overcooked, it was tasty.
My wife ordered the crab. This is not anything like a cold-water crab in the states. The meat is not sweet like a cold water crab. But still, my wife enjoyed it but would not order it again.
My wife really liked her citrus mint drink.
The worst part of the restaurant was the service.
After we ordered 3 mains and an appetizer, they first brought my daughter her pasta dish. 5-6 minutes later they brought my fish dish. I asked about my appetizer.
That came 3 minutes later. Finally, 5 minutes after that, they brought my wife’s crab dish. They did not check back on us and I had to go find them for the bill. Service needs attention.”—stevetanyaTexas, Tripadvisor

If you ever find yourself in Old Malaya, you must stop by Pier 12 Seafood Tavern. This restaurant is the ultimate seafood lover’s paradise as it offers everything from crabs to lobsters, calamari, salmon and more.
With its wide array of dishes, we didn’t know which one would be the best so we decided to go for the safe route and ordered the grilled lobster. Safe to say, we made the right choice as this dish did not disappoint at all.
It was grilled to perfection which added a charred flavour to the flaky lobster tail. Speaking of the lobster tail, it was seasoned perfectly and served alongside a generous amount of garlic butter and chilli.
We also saw that they offered a seafood-based pasta called, seafood marinara, and we immediately added it to our order. It consisted of linguine, tomato sauce and a mix of different kinds of seafood.
The prices from their menu are on the pricier side but they’re entirely made up by the quality of their dishes as well as the ambience itself.
Speaking of ambience, you can see the classiness of the establishment as soon as you enter its premises, especially with its outside seating. It also offers a great view of the KL Tower making its dining experience that much more memorable.
One downside we saw with this restaurant is its schedule. We would have loved to dine here earlier in the day but their operating hours begin at 5:00 PM.
Then again, this allows it to be a great dinner and nightlife spot whenever you’re around town with your friends and loved ones.
Pros
- Fancy dining experience
- Quality seafood dishes
- Menu variety
Cons
- Late opening hour
- Pricey menu

Cielo Sky Dining & Lounge is a great seafood restaurant option if you ever find yourself in KL. It doesn’t strictly serve seafood only but it does offer amazing dishes that incorporate scallops, oysters and other delectable seafood creatures.
We opted for one of their full-course meals which cost around RM 328. For this steep price, we got to try out their salmon tiradito to start which was a great way to kick off the whole course itself.
The main highlight of this specific set, however, was the wild-caught sea king prawns. This dish was bursting with flavours, even with the sea king prawns alone because of how fresh it was.
Its additional ingredients include lemon garlic butter and saffron which only elevated the flavours of the dish even further.
We also tried out their live oysters which were as fresh as they come. They were great on their own but you could also add some spice into the mix by splashing a bit of fresh lemon juice.
Lastly, the ambience is world-class, offering beautiful panoramic views of KL’s skyline which adds more value to the dining experience itself.
However, we found that their opening hour was a tad bit too late at 6:00 PM. It would have been great if it opened during lunchtime.
Overall, we enjoyed dining with a view in the Cielo Sky & Dining Lounge, and we recommend it for special occasions when you’re looking to splurge more money. However, it isn’t a practical option as an everyday option.
Pros
- World-class ambience with amazing views
- Wide variety of delicious seafood dishes
- Great customer service
- Classy dining experience
Cons
- Pricey menu
- Late opening hour

TOP dining
“Went to Cielo for my GF’s birthday. I had heard a lot about it but had never gone before. The ambience was really nice, the decor very classy and the views of the city were excellent even if it rained most of the evening. We had:
tenderloin – 148RM
Ribeye – 158RM
Tuna Tartare – 88RM
Lubina Ceviche – 80RM
Vanilla Mousse – 46RM
San Pellegrino – 27RM
Carrot Juice – 18RM
Total of 609RM
The food was excellent, and the restaurant is properly staffed and they are very attentive. The place was full but we were still looked after. The only negative was that a family brought a spoiled young brat boy (~5 y.o.) that kept screaming right next to us. This is not a place for young kids, especially when the parents cannot control their behaviour.” —Robert B, Tripadvisor
Splendid view
“I occasionally found this rooftop restaurant just walking around and it’s stunning! Incredible view, beautiful cocktails, lovely stuff and I got amazed by the complimentary dessert
Special thanks to the waiter, mister Aizzar, he was very friendly and helpful It just made my day, thank you so much!” —Ksenia248, Tripadvisor

Restoran Aik Khoon is one of the oldest seafood places around town and until today, they’re still visited by tons of customers.
Their menu was made up of various seafood dishes but in the end, we ended up with two classics: the buttered crab and spicy coconut prawn.
Overall, both dishes have this distinct flavour and taste that can be attributed to them being homemade. We felt that they were made with love in the humble kitchen behind the restaurant’s counter.
The buttered crab was prepared simply and for us, it was more than enough as the flaky meat of the crustacean was perfect to eat on its own. However, putting in the delicious melted butter made the dish even more delicious.
As for the spicy coconut prawn, we loved its perfect combination of sweetness and spiciness. They also serve rice so it was a no-brainer to order it to pair with these delicious prawns.
Ambience-wise you can see the wear and tear of the restaurant’s old age but for us personally, this only adds to its character.
Furthermore, it’s not anything fancy as it’s your typical hole-in-the-wall eatery. It has an open layout which allows for great ventilation around the eating space and makes up for the lack of air conditioning.
As for its seats, it’s equipped with the typical red stools that you’ll find in most eateries around Malaysia. They are comfortable and they helped us get through our whole meal without getting our backs hurt so A+ for that.
As for the restaurant’s room for improvement, we feel like they could be better at serving customers. We didn’t encounter anything rude but we did notice that their waiting time can sometimes be too long.
Pros
- Affordable prices
- Authentic dining experience
- Delicious seafood dishes
Cons
- Old interior
- Long waiting time

“Definitely one of the oldest and most popular seafood restaurants in Ulu Yam. Still maintaining its food quality and price wise was reasonable and affordable. We were disappointed when they run out of noodles that cook with Loh Mein. Anyway, they still have the ‘prawns in coconut ‘ which was so perfectly done…..love it. Simply delicious and yummy! The fish cake was flavourful and springy, just great for chewing. The stir fry sweet potato leaves were fried so tasty. One of the best ‘wat tan hor’ that I ever tasted, so flavourful and full of ‘wok hei’. Had the deep-fried pumpkin with salted egg which was delicious and crunchy. A must-try item if you are there.” —c ph (Pink Gardenia), Google Reviews

“Be prepared for a VERY LONG queue during Public holidays or weekends, or in my case both. But trust me, the wait is worth it.
Tofu: not bad.
Coconut Prawn: the tom yum soup is so aromatic and it is appetising with each sip! We were given 8 medium-sized prawns which I think it is very generous. I was told that the prawn is very fresh!
Fried sotong: I loved it!! The batter has nice crisp and a small hint of curry in it. Yum!
Loh Mee: this is the BOMB! We almost went home without trying this but we were glad we did. The taste is very different from the usual Loh Mee I had in Klang Valley; it tasted almost like shark fin soup but more starchy. I enjoyed every mouth of it! MUST ORDER.
Give this place a try” —Jeffrey Wong, Google Reviews

Lau Heong Seafood Restaurant was a must-visit for us as we heard that it offers quality seafood dishes at a reasonable price. Luckily, we listened as it was worth visiting indeed!
For starters, we loved how their menu was divided into different categories based on the seafood they incorporate. This included clams, fish and prawns/squid.
To get a taste of all their offerings, we decided to order one item from each category. The first one we ordered was the clay pot curry fish head which tasted amazing thanks to the tangy flavour of its sauce.
For our second dish, we chose the hot plate prawn which was one of their bestsellers and we understand why. Their prawns were gigantic and covered with flavours that go perfectly well with their tender white meat.
Lastly, we ordered some good old clam soup which at first glance, looks like your typical version of this widely-known soup. However, we could taste how special it is just by the freshness of their clams.
This restaurant is also a perfect example of a local eatery in Malaysia as evidenced by its no-frills nature.
It doesn’t have air conditioning and its doors are widely opened for anyone who wants to dine in. Plus, it does a great job of providing ventilation for us while we were sweating as we took a bite of the hot dishes we were served with.
If you are going to dine here, we advise you to get here using local modes of transportation since it has limited parking space. If you are bringing your car, we recommend getting here early to be one of the first ones to claim a parking spot.
