How We Chose the Top Bars and Restaurants in Bangsar
It’s our mission to provide you only with the best choices so we came up with these criteria that we used to rank these bars and restaurants in Bangsar:
1. The X
Criteria | Ratings |
Selection of food and drinks | ★★★★★ (5/5) |
Affordability of the prices | ★★★★☆ (4/5) |
Space and style | ★★★★★ (5/5) |
Amenities | ★★★★★ (5/5) |
Customer satisfaction | ★★★★☆ (4/5) |
The X is one of our recommendations because of their great selection of food and drinks. Their menu is so diverse, we think you’ll have a hard time choosing what to order.
Their menu is mostly influenced by Japanese cuisine, both their food and drinks. In fact, this is one of the rare places in Bangsar where you can get sake and shochu in addition to cocktails, wines, and whiskey which you can find in most bars.
Aside from Japanese food, they also have Asian and Western choices, which we’re sure you’ll like and they will make you keep coming back.
Furthermore, we also love the great promos they offer on their Happy Hour which they hold from 3 PM to 8 PM every day. You’ll be able to get a glass or a shot for as low as RM 13!
However, we were surprised that the decor doesn’t reflect the menu of this bar and restaurant because the design of this bar and restaurant has a European style.
Nevertheless, we also love the style of this place because it’s classy yet cozy. Plus, this isn’t too noisy like other restaurants and bars that play music loudly.
The ambiance here also makes it feel like it’s a family-friendly restaurant and bar. So, we think this is a great place to meet friends and family during lunch or dinner to celebrate occasions like birthdays (best cafe to celebrate birthday in penang).
We also like that this bar has enough space to accommodate several customers at once. They even have outdoor seating to cater to more people.
While the staff is generally friendly, we noticed that their service isn’t that good when the place is crowded.
We’re also concerned that it takes a long time for them to serve the orders. They serve food usually within half an hour and they bring the entree along with the mains.
Pros
- Great deals during Happy Hour
- Family-friendly restaurant and bar
Cons
- Service needs to be improved
- Food takes time to be served

A place to chill
“Nice place to chill and have a nice dinner with drinks with friends. They’ve got a cocktail promo till 8pm which gives you 3 and you can get them whenever you want throughout the night. Not too noisy. Food was delicious. Not big on the choices but everything we had from fried rice to steak was amazing. Price is on the higher end but it’s worth it. Will def come again.” —Elsa, Google Reviews
Delicious food and great promos
“A really great place to hangout with friends. They serve delicious food too and their promo for drinks are also pretty decently priced. Do call in advance to book a place as they follow the SOPs during CMCO.” —Caitlyn Liu, Google Reviews
2. Rock Bottom
Criteria | Ratings |
Selection of food and drinks | ★★★★★ (5/5) |
Affordability of the prices | ★★★★☆ (4/5) |
Space and style | ★★★★★ (5/5) |
Amenities | ★★★★☆ (4/5) |
Customer satisfaction | ★★★★☆ (4/5) |
Rock Bottom isn’t a place that you go to when you hit rock bottom! This is actually a lively bar and restaurant where you can celebrate, meet friends, party, or socialize over amazing food and drinks.
This is also a good place to get spicy food because we noticed that their menu is largely influenced by Indian cuisine.
One of the things on their menu that caught our attention is their vegetarian choices for appetizers and mains. We also love their selection of small platters and bites that match their drinks menu.
We were also surprised by the very affordable Happy Hour promos they offer that are surely worth your money, especially if you love drinking beer.
Other bars and restaurants in Bangsar usually offer Happy Hour promos for cocktails. But, Rock Bottom offers 2 pints, 5 pints, and 5 half pints promos on various beers like Tiger, Heineken, Guinness, Kilkenny, Strongbow, and Paulaner.
We also like that they offer Tower Promos which is perfect if you’re drinking with friends.
Likewise, they have great choices for hard liquor which you should try out if you’re up for a wild night.
They also have live music and live performances but these can get pretty loud because of rock music so it might not be an ideal place to have conversations in this place.
Furthermore, we also like that they offer bar games like a pool table where customers can play.
Just note that this is also a sports bar so it could get noisy when packed with fans who watch some games live.
Pros
- Provides live performances
- Great selection of food and drinks
- Offers vegetarian options
Cons
- Not wheelchair-accessible
- Might become quite noisy
- Sports-themed bar

Nice environment
“Been here several times.. Food are generally great, there’s variety of options to choose. My fav beer would be snake bite. Been here to watch the bands on Thursday to Saturday 9 pm to 12 pm.. not sure on other days. Really nice environment both indoor and outdoor. Price is slightly above average. Overall, it’s a nice place to grab some drinks and chill.” —Jeevaraaj Vivek, Google Reviews
Great food and service
“Caught up with some old friends at Rock Bottom on a Thursday night. Service and food was amazing! Can’t fault them. However, sometimes when there is live music it gets too loud there so not ideal for having conversations in a group.” —Jennifer Lee, Google Reviews
3. Bilique Bangsar
Criteria | Ratings |
Selection of food and drinks | ★★★★★ (5/5) |
Affordability of the prices | ★★★★★ (5/5) |
Space and style | ★★★★☆ (4/5) |

One of the things that we like about Bilique Bangsar is that they have a little bit of everything, even if their menu isn’t as diverse as other restaurants and bars.
We’re also recommending this place because they serve halal food, vegetarian options, and a kids’ menu. It’s quite hard to find a place where you can find these choices.
So, even if you’re someone who doesn’t drink, you’ll still enjoy a meal here because they offer Western and Asian cuisine. We also like that they have rice meals which will give you a taste of Malaysia’s distinct cuisine.
This is also open up until 3 AM, which is a plus for us because most bars and restaurants are open until 12 AM or 1 AM only. So, you can go here for a late-night snack too.
Likewise, the prices of their food and drinks are also quite reasonable so we think this is a good place to visit if you’re looking for a budget-friendly place to dine.
We’re also impressed by their Happy Hour promos, which we’re sure will save you money when you want to party or have a crazy night.
Based on our observations, however, their service is a bit slow. Customers are also not satisfied with the service of some staff members and we think they need some training to improve.

- Staff lacks training

Jarrod & Rawlins Bangsar is a famous gastropub in Bangsar where people go for Happy Hour drinks. They’re one of the spots people visit for a quick drink or a nice glass of beer.
They also have a great selection of wine which you’ll notice in their display when you step right in.
We also like that this gastro pub is one of the few places where you can find a fusion of Asian and Western cuisine. But their English food particularly stands out and it’s a crowd favorite, especially among the expat community.
Aside from their Happy Hour promos, they offer other types of discounts on their alcoholic beverages. So, watch out for their announcements before going to save up on your drinks.
We love that the style of this restaurant and bar is classy but also casual. We recommend going here if you’re looking for a place that’s a bit fancy to dine and drink with family and friends.

Comfortable gastrobar
“Celebrated a birthday here. Nice comfortable gastrobar. Typical British pub decor. Friendly & attentive service. Prices are okay for what you get. Parking is reasonable depending on time of day. Nice quieter side of Bangsar. We tried 2 types of pork chops, fish & chips & fish pie. The chops were huge & well cooked. Accompanying sides were yummy too. Fish & chips just like in UK. Thick cuts & light batter. Went well with their tartar sauce. Fish pie was interesting. Warm & comforting. We washed it all down with cold beers & stout. Overall a great meal. Will surely return.” —Subendra Thiruchelvam, Google Reviews

Cava is a Spanish restaurant in Bangsar and this is one of the best places not only to get Spanish food but also Spanish alcoholic drinks. We recommend visiting this bar and restaurant if you want to try something new the next time you go out.
The first thing that impressed us about Cava is that this restaurant is a MICHELIN Select awardee for 2023 and it’s a MICHELIN Guide Restaurant. This just proves that this is one of the best restaurants not only in Bangsar but in the whole country.
Cava is especially recognized in Kuala Lumpur for their tapas and paella dishes, particularly their signature squid ink paella.
With just one bite of these dishes, you’ll quickly understand why this restaurant is the go-to local spot for both dishes, so much so that their patrons keep coming back for more.
Even their small bites recipes like gambas al ajillo deserve to be mentioned. We think these are a perfect match for their great selection of cava and extensive options of Spanish wines.
However, one thing we’re concerned about is that their food and drinks are on the expensive side but the servings are quite small compared to other restaurants.
Furthermore, we also like that they have promos during their Happy Hour promos and this is a good time to have a glass of their famous and refreshing sangria recipe.
It’s also a plus for us that they also have various promos for other drinks that they have outside of their Happy Hour period. It may be the sign you’re looking for if you want to try new alcoholic beverages!
Pros
- Michelin Select awardee
- Serves Spanish cuisine and alcoholic drinks
Cons
- Closes earlier than other restaurants and bars
- Small portions and servings
